Taken at the end of winter in 2022, this photograph was my first. Photographed is the Traxx system in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. This is a public transportation system that hubs in downtown SLC, but spreads throughout the entire valley. It’s important to note that the “fog” that creates a haze in this photograph is inversion (smog trapped under a blanket of warm air inside a bowl-like valley). Though it adds to the emotion in the photograph, it’s an unfortunate side effect of one of my most favorite genre of photography: Street photography. Without all these things that produce this smog, I wouldn’t have the subjects I like so much. Either way, with this photograph I started my photography journey, and have continued to learn and grow from there.
